The teaching staff of the Department of Chemical Technology and Ecology actively carries out educational and methodological activities aimed at improving the quality of the educational process, the introduction of modern educational technologies and the development of digital forms of education. In recent years, teaching materials on the disciplines of educational programs have been significantly updated; online courses have been developed for which copyright certificates issued by an authorized state body have been obtained.

The teachers of the department have prepared and published textbooks and teaching aids recommended by the Republican Educational and Methodological Association of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan (RUMO MNiVO RK), which are used in the educational process in the implementation of bachelor's, master's and doctoral programs.

Additional and continuing education

Additional education programs are implemented on the basis of the department. Advanced training courses "Laboratory assistant of chemical analysis" were conducted, as a result of which the students were awarded the microqualification "Laboratory assistant of chemical analysis". These courses are focused on developing practical skills that are in demand in analytical and production laboratories.

Online education and digital resources

The faculty of the department has developed a massive open online course (MOOC), hosted on the national educational platforms BilimLand and the National Open Education Platform of Kazakhstan Ashyk University. Online courses provide access to quality education and are used in the educational process as an element of blended and distance learning.

Human resources and scientific personnel training

The personnel potential of the department is consistently developing. The teaching staff consists of 2 Doctors of sciences, 7 candidates of sciences and 3 PhD doctors, which ensures a high level of academic competence of the department (55%). Currently, 2 doctoral students are undergoing the final stage of dissertation preparation and are planning their defense, which indicates the progressive development of the scientific schools of the department and the succession of personnel.

According to educational programs

8D07101 – Chemical technology of organic substances,

7M07102 – Chemical Technology of organic Substances,

7M11201 – Industrial and environmental safety

a steady increase in the number of undergraduates and doctoral students is noted annually, which indicates the demand for the scientific and educational potential of the department.

Academic mobility of students

The department actively supports the internal and external academic mobility of students. Students and undergraduates study at foreign and domestic universities as part of academic exchanges, mastering specialized disciplines in chemical, pharmaceutical and biomedical fields.

As part of the external academic mobility, students of the department studied at universities in Turkey and Bulgaria, where they studied pharmaceutical and chemical disciplines.

As part of internal academic mobility, students and undergraduates master individual disciplines at leading universities in Karaganda, including medical and technical universities.

Working with gifted students and a science club

The department has a scientific circle for school students interested in research activities in the field of chemistry and chemical technology. The participants of the circle work under the guidance of experienced teachers, learn the basics of experimental research, data analysis and scientific thinking.

As part of the circle's work, students carry out applied scientific projects, including research on the creation of biodegradable packaging materials with antimicrobial properties and the study of the antioxidant activity of plant objects. The research results have been presented at school research project competitions and have been highly appreciated by the expert community.
